Ingredients
Scale
For the Pops:
- 24 large marshmallows (standard or jumbo)
- 12–24 lollipop sticks or paper straws (depending on size)
- 2 cups candy melts (orange, green, purple, white, or black)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for thinning candy melts)
- ½ cup Halloween sprinkles (bats, pumpkins, ghosts, etc.)
- ¼ cup edible candy eyes
Optional Decoration Add-ins:
- ¼ cup crushed Oreos or graham crackers
- ¼ cup shredded coconut (for “hair” or monster texture)
- Pretzel sticks (for pumpkin stems)
- Black icing (for details like stitches or mouths)
Instructions
- Prepare Marshmallows: Insert lollipop sticks or paper straws into each marshmallow. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for 10 minutes to firm up.
- Melt Candy Coating: Place candy melts into microwave-safe bowls by color. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Add coconut oil if too thick.
- Dip Marshmallows: Dip each marshmallow into the melted candy, covering completely. Tap gently on the edge of the bowl to remove excess.
- Decorate Quickly: While the coating is still wet, add sprinkles, edible eyes, or drizzle with another color. For pumpkins, dip in orange and add a pretzel stick stem; for ghosts, use white coating and add chocolate eyes.
- Let Pops Set: Place decorated pops on parchment paper. Allow to set at room temperature for 15 minutes or refrigerate for 5 minutes until hardened.
- Serve & Enjoy: Arrange on a platter, wrap individually for gifts, or display upright in a jar of candy corn for a festive centerpiece.
Notes
- Make Ahead: Pops can be made up to 3 days in advance and stored in an airtight container.
- Storage: Keep at room temperature or refrigerate in a sealed container. For longer storage, freeze up to 1 month.
- Variations: Try Frankenstein pops (green candy melt + black icing), ghost pops (white candy melt + chocolate eyes), or candy corn pops (layered orange, yellow, and white).
- Kid-Friendly Tip: Set up a decorating station with bowls of sprinkles and eyes so kids can design their own spooky creations.
