The High Protein Dough

  • 1 cup Self-Rising Flour (plus extra for dusting)
  • 1 cup Non-Fat Plain Greek Yogurt (strained/thick variety)
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 pinch Salt

The Filling

  • 6 oz Extra Lean Honey Ham (or Black Forest), chopped
  • 1 cup Reduced-Fat Cheddar Cheese, shredded (or 4 slices)
  • 1 tbsp Dijon Mustard (optional spread inside)
  • 1 Egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tsp Everything Bagel Seasoning (optional topping)

Instructions

  1. Prep: Chop the deli ham into small squares. If using block cheese, shred it freshly for the best melt.
  2. Make Dough: In a large bowl, mix self-rising flour, Greek yogurt, garlic powder, and salt. Stir until a shaggy ball forms.
  3. Knead: Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead for 1-2 minutes until smooth and elastic. If sticky, add a sprinkle more flour.
  4. Roll: Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a rectangle (approx 6×4 inches).
  5. Fill: Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on the dough (optional). Place 1/4 of the chopped ham and 1/4 cup of cheese in the center, leaving a border.
  6. Seal: Fold the dough over the filling to create a rectangular pocket. Use a fork to firmly crimp the edges sealed.
  7. Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the pockets with beaten egg and sprinkle with Everything Bagel Seasoning. Cut a small slit in the top for steam to escape.
  8. Air Fry: Preheat Air Fryer to 375°F (190°C). Spray basket with oil. Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown.
  9. Oven Method: Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 18-20 minutes on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  10. Serve: Let cool for 3-5 minutes before serving (filling will be hot).
